Carolina on my mind, guitar chords

Please note that this is my interpretation of the song and is to be used for study and research only.

This is based on the version from James Taylor's 'One Man Band' live DVD that I caught on BBC 4 one night, I did not really know him well, but was moved by that version of this song:

Carolina on my mind

(Capo on second fret)

D,  G-G/F#, A

In my mind i'm going to Carolina

em7-Asus4

Can't you see the sunshine?

em7-asus4
Can't you just feel the moonshine?

D, A/C#,Bm, A
Ain't it just like a friend of mine

G, E7
to hit me from behind

D, Bm7, Em7, A7, D
Yes I'm gone to Carolina in my mind

D                  C
Karen she's a silver sun
G                         A
You best walk away and watch it shining
Bm, G, A
Watch her watch the morning come
D,               C
A silver tear appearing now
G         A
I'm crying ain't I
D, Bm7, Em7, A7, D
Gone to Carolina in my mind

D                               C
There ain't no doubt in no one's mind
G                              A
That love's the finest thing around
Bm, G, A
Whisper something soft and kind
D                          C
And hey babe the sky's on fire
G            A,
I'm dyin' ain't I
D, Bm7, Em7, A7, D
Gone to Carolina in my mind

In my mind I'm goin' to Carolina
Can't you see the sunshine?
Can't you just feel the moonshine?
Ain't it just like a friend of mine
It hit me from behind
Yes I'm goin' to Carolina in my mind

Dark and silent late last night
I think I might have heard the highway calling
Geese in flight and dogs that bite
Signs that might be omens say I going, going
I'm gone to Carolina in my mind

D                    G                        A             Bm

With a holy host of others standing around me

F#m7                          Em7            G

Still I'm on the dark side of the moon

A                     C                    G            D  C Em7

And it seems like it goes on like this forever

G9

You must forgive me

D       Bm    Em7       G9       A
If I'm up and gone to Carolina in my mind

In my mind I'm goin' to Carolina
Can't you see the sunshine?
Can't you just feel the moonshine?
Ain't it just like a friend of mine
It hit me from behind
Yes I'm gone to Carolina in my mind
Gone to Carolina in my mind
Then I'm on to Carolina in my mind
Gone to Carolina in my mind
Gone - I'm gone - I'm gone
Say nice things about me
'Cause I'm gone south
Carry on without me
'Cause I'm gone
